Heading Avenue Franciscans are 130 Years Old

On February 2, 2021, we began the celebration of our 130th year of existence as a congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception. Our foundress, Mother Mary Pacifica Forrestal, and her few companions were called to staff the diocesan orphanage at Metamora, Illinois, in the fall of 1890. The original members professed vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience on February 2, 1891 – the birthday of our community

Bishop Louis Tylka celebrated Mass with the Sisters at the Motherhouse on December 8, 2020.
